About project
In order to train staff on the new trains before delivery and regardless of their location, SBB decided to capture the entire train in 3D and train the staff using a 360° tour.
The project shows impressively that such VR applications can be used in many ways. In addition to training courses, the 3D model was also used for product presentations. Various excerpts appeared in brochures, pictures and as AR content (augmented reality).
About technology
The train was completely captured as a 3D element. To be more precise, it is made up of many individual 3D models which, when combined, form an entire train composition. Thus, individual elements can be clicked and put into focus. In addition, this allows jumping back and forth to the individual objects and changes to the train can be made easily.
